It's also a chance to meet some of the most contrarian, opinionated, arrogant and ignorant people on the planet.

The Open CD

A CD of open source (and therefore free) software for Windows. Lots and lots of nice stuff here, and it's well worth a look. Either download it yourself, or have a CD delivered to you for a minimal postage fee.

Ultimate Boot CD

If you're anything like me and fiddle incessantly with your computer odds are you'll break it every now and then. And, if like me, you haven't got a working floppy drive, then this CD may well be your best chance at getting it working again.
